Michael P. Salazar – Vice President



Mike Salazar

Michael P. Salazar was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. He is a second generation accountant following in father’s footsteps. Michael graduated with a BA from Augusta College majoring in Accounting and went on to complete his MBA at Brenau University. After spending four years in the Air Force, he settled into a successful accounting career from his beginnings as an accounting supervisor with FMC (Ground Systems Division), to earning CPA while working with his father and now running his own CPA firm in Augusta.

Michael places an emphasis on continuing his education and involvement with the accounting field. He became an Enrolled Agent in 1995, obtained his Accredited Tax Advisor and Accredited Business Accountant designations from the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) in 2000, an completed his CPA in 2002. In addition, Michael joined the Georgia Association of Accountants and Tax Professionals in 1997. He is a past president of our organization and believes enough in the mission of GAATP to serve as Vice President currently. He is a member of the National Society of Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, State Regulatory Oversight, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.

Michael does volunteer/civic service with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce serving as a member of their Finance Committee and with Dayspring Baptist Church where he is the Finance Committee Chairman and Treasurer.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with his lovely wife Sandra, Together, they have two grown children. Michael is also an accomplished acoustical guitarist.
